"Nuit Resplendissante" is an aria from Cinq-Mars, a four-act opera by Charles Gounod, with a libretto by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré. It premiered in Paris in 1877. The opera is based on the story of Cinq-Mars, a favorite of King Louis XIII, and his childhood friend, de Thou, who seek to overthrow the minister Richelieu. Cinq-Mars is considered one of Gounod's most important operas.
