"Nachtgesang im Walde" (Night Song in the Forest) is a work for choir and orchestra composed by Franz Schubert in 1823. It is based on a poem by Johann Anton Friedrich Reil that evokes the beauty and serenity of nocturnal nature. Schubert's music reflects these sentiments with somber and melancholic harmonies, as well as a lyrical and expressive main theme. "Nachtgesang im Walde" is considered one of Schubert's most important choral works.
